Lenovo showcased their new range of notebooks at their Innovate 24 event at Bangkok, Thailand. At the center of their new range of gaming laptops are the 2024 refresh of the Legion 5i, Legion 7i, and the more budget-oriented Lenovo LOQ 15 – all of which come with Intel HX processors, AI chips, and the new Coldfront Hyperchamber cooling.
Legion Coldfront HyperChamber
There will be always tradeoff between size, thermals, and performance. To work around this limitation, Lenovo has developed the Coldfront Hyperchamber cooling solution for the Legion 5i, Legion 7i, and the LOQ 15.
Currently exclusive to Intel-based notebooks, it redirects the path of air within the chassis through a channel-like hyperbaric chamber at the center. Their bottom covers are designed to prevent air exhausting out the back to keep hot air from mixing with the cold air. This allows them to reduce noise and skin temperature of these notebooks by up to -2dB and -2°C, respectively, while increasing power by up to 25W for additional performance.
Lenovo LA AI chips for More Performance
Aside from improved cooling performance, Lenovo is equipping select Gen 9 (2024) Legion and Yoga notebooks with LA AI chips. This lets the system to assist with performance boosts with peak power efficiency to boost framerates and performance on workloads. If you’re more intuitive with gaming notebooks, Lenovo also allows for you to customize your own performance curves via software.
Powered by Intel HX Processors
The Legion 5i, Legion 7i, and other Gen 9 gaming notebooks will come with Intel 14th Generation HX processors. These CPUs range from Core i5, Core i7, and Core i9, with the top-end model – the Intel Core i9-14900HX – packing 24 cores (8 P-cores, 16 E-cores), 24 threads, 36MB of cache, and up to 5.8GHz clock speeds.
Intel’s new platform also allows Lenovo to equip their Legion notebooks with up faster RAM with high-end models being equipped with up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM that runs up to 5600MHz. Most models will be paired with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series GPUs that promises increased performance plus support for DLSS 3.
Price and Availability
The 2024 range of Lenovo Legion devices will arrive in the Philippines soon. Currently, they are slating to debut the LOQ 15, LOQ Tower 17, Legion 5i, Legion Slim 5, Legion 7i, Legion 9i, Legion Pro 7i, Legion Tower 5i, and Legion Tower 5i.
