If you’re into diving deep in the latest Android N Developer Preview, you’ll see that there’s a code that is similar to Apple’s 3D Touch feature for the new Android OS. A developer showed us a preview of what Google may be thinking.

Because there’s no Android device with physical 3D Touch capabilities yet, the developer had to mimic the functionality using the traditional long presses and swiping downs on the icon. In Google’s documentation, 3D Touch is only useful for the app icon itself and they called it “Launcher Shortcuts”.

It seems that Android is again taking note on Apple’s nifty features but they will add additional controls on popup widgets that display simple information

For now, it’s a neat preview of what Google I/O 2016 may showcase for developers. But until then, let’s not expect too much.
