The HONOR X9b 5G is slated to launch in the Philippines on January 12, 2024. Before its debut, the brand invited its media partners to put their “toughest phone in the market to date” through a series of challenges to see its durability.
HONOR’s next smartphone was put to the test by being smashed by as many thick tiles as the participants could in 30 seconds. Its screen was also hit with paintball and arrows to no avail. It was even run over by an SUV and lived. Lastly, it was able to survive a 50ft drop but HONOR is teasing a 100ft test on its launch.
“HONOR X9b 5G has been proven durable as the device was carefully studied and has undergone three tempering processes and we are sure that it can surpass the success of its predecessor. Advice for the public though, while we are confident that it will survive intense pressure, intentional dropping and smashing might still cause physical damage to the phone,” said HONOR Philippines Vice President Stephen Cheng.
Aside from its durability, the X9b 5G is outfitted with a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chip with 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage, a 6.78-inch 2652 x 1200 AMOLED screen, and a 108MP f/1.75 main camera at the back. Its battery is a step up from its predecessor with a 5,800mAh capacity and supports 35W Fast Charging.
