Huawei might have just been named as the second largest smartphone brand worldwide but that won’t stop the Chinese firm to improve over their recent efforts. With the Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro just on the horizon, it’s only a matter of time until we see some leaks from the brand’s upcoming flagship series. The wait, however, won’t be long since the specifications for the Mate 20 serieshave been leaked out online.
The Huawei Mate 20 series will be using a new homebrewed SoC dubbed the HiSilicon Kirin 980, which is also the first SoC with a 7nm lithography from Huawei. It is expected that the Kirin 980 wil lbe able to reach a maximum of 2.8GHz while its new found lithography will bring 20% better performance and 40% superior battery performance compared to current SoCs from Huawei.
To complement the brand new SoC from Huawei, the smartphones are expected to have at least 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
The Mate 20 series is rumored to come with a 6.3-inch AMOLED panel although there’s no information yet what smartphone will come with this display. Rumors, however, point that the Huawei Mate 20 pro will have a larger 6.9-inch OLED display.
Powering the Mate 20 is a 4,200mAh battery that we assume will be charged via a USB Type-C port. The Mate 20 is also rumored to have wireless charging. The Mate 20 series will also be removing the 3.5mm jack, which was the same design choice that Huawei made with the P20 series.
The Kirin 980 is expected to be unveiled to the public on IFA 2018 with both the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro having their public appearance shortly thereafter. We’ll update you once we have more concrete evidence about Huawei’s upcoming flagship series.
