AMD has officially unveiled their latest addition in their processor family: the Ryzen 5000 series desktop processors. Based on their latest generation Zen 3 architecture, these new batch of processors promises up to 19% lift in IPC compared to their previous CPUs and better gaming performance.
AMD is introducing four processors in their new lineup:
Zen 3 CPU | Cores/Threads | Base/Boost Clocks | TDP | L3 Cache | Price |
Ryzen 9 5950X | 16 / 32 | 3.4/4.9GHz | 105W | 64MB | $799 |
Ryzen 9 5900X | 12 / 32 | 3.7/4.8GHz | 105W | 64MB | $549 |
Ryzen 7 5800X | 8 / 16 | 3.8/4.7GHz | 105W | 32MB | $449 |
Ryzen 5 5600X | 6 / 12 | 3.7/4.6GHz | 65W | 32MB | $299 |
While these new processors are still using AMD’s optimized 7nm lithography same as their previous processors, they are boasting that they will have better performance while having up 24% better power efficiency compared to the competition.
AMD won’t be releasing new motherboards this generation but instead will continue supporting their current X570 and B550 series boards with a BIOS update. It seems that they will also be supporting older platforms like X470 and B450 but updates will be deferred until January of next year.
All four processors are expected to make their appearance globally starting November 5, 2020. They will be part of AMD’s Equipped to Win bundle program, which will entitle everyone who purchase from November 5 until December 31, 2020 with a free copy of Far Cry 6 Standard Edition on PC.
The Far Cry 6 bundle will also be applicable for existing processors like the Ryzen 9 3950X, Ryzen 9 3900XT, and Ryzen 7 3800XT starting October 20 until December 31, 2020.
