NVIDIA might have gone affordable at CES 2019 but AMD have unleashed their new flagship GPU, the AMD Radeon VII. Based on a 7nm process, the new GPU from AMD promises a leap in performance compared to their previous flagship, the Vega 64.
Inside the AMD Radeon VII is a Vega 20 core based on the Graphics Core Next 5.1 architecture. With a total of 3840 Shaders running at 1.8GHz, the card aims to produce exceptional performance in the latest games and demanding 3D rendering and video editing applications as well as next generation compute workloads.
Complementing the Vega 20 GPU inside the card is 16GB of HBM2 memory. With a 4096-bit memory bus, the VRAM on the AMD Radeon VII can deliver 1024GB/s of performance over the 483GB/s of the Vega 64.
All these improvements over the previous generation of Vega cards assures gamers to reach better performance in DirectX12 and Vulkan-based games. This will include performance improvements of up to 35% higher in Battlefield V and 42% better in Strange Brigade.
The AMD Radeon VII is expected to launch in the market on February 7, 2019 for around USD 700 (PhP 37,000). To be an even better deal for gamers, AMD is planning to offer titles such as Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry 5, and Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 free with the card.
