AMD continues to bank on their 3D V-Cache technology on the newly launched Ryzen 9 9950X3D. It is the successor of the Ryzen 9 7950X3D and a higher-tier option for the previously introduced Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D sits a top of the Ryzen 9 stack with 16 Zen 5 CPU cores and 32 threads – the same as its predecessor – with a max boost of up to 5.7GHz, and a TDP of 170W. It comes with a total of 144MB cache with 2nd generation AMD V-Cache.
AMD claims that it is 8% faster on average than its predecessor across 40 games that they have tested at 1080p. When compared to the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, AMD says performance is better by an average of 20% when it comes to gaming.
For content creation, the company says that the 9950X3D is 13% and 10% faster on average from 20 apps that they have tested compared to the 7950X3D and Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, respectively.
The AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D has also made its debut at CES 2025. Placed just below the 9950X3D, the 9900X3D comes with 12 Zen 5 cores with 24 threads that can boost up to 5.5GHz, 140MB cache with 2nd generation AMD V-Cache, and a 120W TDP.
Both the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D will hit the global market on March 2025. AMD has not yet unveiled about official pricing.
