Apple iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max officially announced

It seems that Apple will be sticking with the X in their new generation of smartphones. Still rocking a notched display, the iPhone XS and XS Max sports larger screens compared to the iPhone 8 as well as have Dual SIM capabilities.

The iPhone XS Max comes with a notched 6.4-inch Super Retina OLED screen with a 2688 x 1242 resolution while the smaller iPhone XS will have a 5.8-inch Super Retina OLED display at 2436 x 1125. Both smartphones will also rock 120Hz refresh rates, 3D Touch, and HDR 10.

Built on a 7nm lithography, the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max comes powered by the new A12 Bionic chip. Inside the chip is a 4-core GPU, a 6-core CPU (2+4), as well as their own Neural Engine. This allows the A12 Bionic to reach up to 5 trillion operations per second. Apple says that the two performance cores on the A12 Bionic will have up to 15% faster performance with 40% lower power while the four efficiency cores will have a 50% energy usage reduction.

The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max comes with a 12MP f/1.8 wide-angle primary shooter and a 12MP f/2.4 telephoto lens that’s capable of 2x optical zoom. At the front, meanwhile, is a 7MP f/2.2 selfie camera. Imaging performance on the True Tone sensor inside the smartphones has been tweaked for better colors and better overall photos.

Cameras are also helped by the new A12 Bionic Chip with both smartphones now able to add or subtract bokeh from photos after they have been taken. Apertures that can be chosen start from f/1.8 to f/14.

The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max will also have FaceID, IP67 rating, Stereo Speakers, as well as up to 512GB of storage. Both smartphones, interestingly enough, will also have dual SIM capabilities. Apple says that they have also improved the battery performance of both smartphones with the iPhone XS having an extra 30 minutes of battery life while the iPhone XS Max will have up to an hour and a half of life compared to the iPhone X.

Both the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are available in 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB variants. Prices will start at USD 999 for the iPhone XS while the iPhone XS Max will start at USD 1099. Pre-orders will start on Friday, September 14 while availability will begin on September 21, 2018 in 30 different countries.
