ASUS introduces three Z490 Prime motherboards

ASUS is releasing three Z490 motherboards under their Prime series. The ASUS Prime Z490-A, Prime Z490-P, ASUS Prime Z490M-Plus, and offers varying takes on the platform while offering it in a white color scheme tailor-made for builders who prefer white-themed builds.

ASUS Prime Z490-A

The ASUS Prime Z490-A comes with a 12+2 phase teamed power design with DrMOS integrated circuitry for power delivery. Four DIMM slots are present to house up to 128GB of DDR4 RAM running at 4600MHz. In terms of storage, the board has two M.2 slots with one exclusively for PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe SSDs, while six SATA ports are present for SATA-based SSDs and HDDs.

Clad in white, the board has a six-layer PCB design that improves passive cooling. For network connections, it has an Ethernet connection at the back capable of reaching 2.5Gb speeds thanks to its Intel I225-V. If you prefer a wireless connection, an M.2 with E-key is also present to add a WiFi network card.

RGB enthusiasts will be pleased to know that the Prime Z490-A is compatible with the AURA SYNC ecosystem with its integrated lights while RGB strips can be controlled via four RGB LED headers. As far as audio goes, the board ships out with a Realtek S1220A with 120dB signal-to-noise ratio, and support for DTS:X Ultra.

ASUS Prime Z490-P

The most affordable of the Z490 Prime series, the ASUS Prime Z490-P has a 10+1 teamed power phase VRM design. Four DIMM slots are available that supports up to 128GB of DDR4 RAM at up to 4600MHz.

Two PCIe 3.0 x16 slots are present that’s compatible with NVIDIA SLI or AMD CrossFire. The first slot, however, has the brand’s SafeSlot Core+ design in order to comfortably and safely mount heavier graphics cards.

Like the Z490-A, the Prime Z490-P comes with an M.2 E-key slot for WiFi connectivity as well as a Thunderbolt 3 header for a ThunderboltEX 3-TR expansion card. There’s also three RGB LED strip headers, one of which is Gen2 addressable for full customization.

ASUS Prime Z490M-Plus

If you want a smaller white-themed build, the ASUS Prime Z490M-Plus might be for you. With an mATX form factor, it still has the chops to rival larger boards with its 8+1 DrMOS power stages and support for NVIDIA SLI or AMD CrossFire.

There are four DIMM slots for up to 128GB of DDR4 RAM at 4400MHz. For storage, two M.2 slots are present alongside with five SATA III slots. There’s also a plethora of USB expansion ports to allow you to have as many USB ports as you would like.

All the ASUS Prime Z490 motherboards will start to hit store shelves by the end of this month. ASUS will also be releasing their prices in the near future.
