ASUS has released their range of TUF Gaming series power supplies to add to supplement their existing Thor PSUs. While the latter is exclusively aimed for hardcore enthusiasts, the TUF Gaming series PSUs exists in a lower price point while still offering all the features that the TUF branding comes with.
Available in 550, 650, and 750W variants, TUF Gaming PSUs’ come with capacitors and chokes that are certified to pass military-grade specifications. Its PCB is covered with a conformal coating to prevent any short-circuits that might be caused by dust, debris, or moisture.
Cooling the PSU is an Axial-tech fan, which are also used in ASUS’ high-end graphics cards. Its design has a smaller fan hub that allows for longer blades and a barrier ring to increased downward air pressure. Like its GPUs, TUF Gaming power supplies include 0dB technology that allows them to operate silently when power demands are only around 30% TDP. Anything above 30%, the fan starts kicking in to cool down the PSU. They also come with 80 PLUS Bronze certifications that allow for more efficient operation.
