ASUS Padfone S – The cheaper Padfone X with Snapdragon 400 & LTE

-

When ASUS launched the Padfone X for AT&T in america, the showed a concept of an 5″ Phone that transforms into an 9″ Full HD Tablet where its typically smaller compared to the previous generations. It seems ASUS adapted the same design and made it globally available through the name Padfone S. Perhaps this is due to the decreasing number of users using 10″ tablets as seen in the trend with 8″ below are dramatically increasing.

Padfone S features an Snapdragon 400 processor which is can be considered a bit a mid-level range phone processor, 2GB of mDDR3 RAM, LTE connectivity. What’s interestingly weird is that the tablet dock is just 9 inches small but the bezels are outrageously wide. To compensate for the large bezels, the speakers are located into the front which is the same trend with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10 series.

The phone features a 5″ Full HD display with a 13mp (F2.0) PixelMaster camera, 2MP front camera. Storage wise there is an ample 16GB internal storage and still expandable via MicroSD slot and the phone has a battery of 2300mAh and the tablet can recharge the phone with its 4990mAh battery capacity which can overall go around more than 2 charges or up to 60 hours of talk time. Software wise its running on Android KitKat 4.4 and ASUS is now using the new ZenUI in all of their new releases where they promise improvements in the user capability and their highlighted feature “What’s Next”.

Pricing and availability is still to be announced for the Padfone S but as a reference, ASUS also has the Padfone E where its available for around $549 with almost simillar specs. So we are estimating that the Padfone S will be available around $599 dollars or around Php27,000.
