ASUS ROG has unveiled via Weibo that they have entered a partnership with Tencent for the next generation ROG Phone. Tencent, who owns big mobile titles such as PUBG Mobile and Arena of Valor, will help ASUS to optimize games for the ROG Phone 2.
The official announcement says “On June 5, ROG and Tencent Games officially signed, the two sides will play their respective advantages, strengthen the deep integration of game mobile phone hardware and software, and strongly launch ROG game mobile phone 2 (Tencent game customization, giving players a hearty, impeccable immersive gaming experience.” – translated from Chinese.
Based on their official announcement, it seems that Tencent is working on an optimization engine or app for the ASUS ROG Phone 2. This also points to improved performance in Tencent games (if not most games) when run on the upcoming smartphone.
Another post on Weibo also points to a July launch of the ASUS ROG Phone 2 in China. Current rumors for the upcoming smartphone include a 120Hz display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip.
