ASUS ZenFone 5 series to arrive in Philippines on April 14

ASUS have gone full steam ahead for the upcoming release of the ZenFone 5 series. Officially announced in MWC 2018 in Barcelona, the latest iteration of the ZenFone 5 series is slated to arrive in our shores on April 14, 2018. Here’s a primer on what to expect from ASUS’ latest range of smartphones.

ASUS ZenFone 5

The middle of the road model of the ZenFone 5 series. The ZenFone 5 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 with 4GB of RAM and a 6.2-inch 19:9 display with a resolution of 2246 x 1080. To improve performance, ASUS has fitted the ZenFone 5 with ASUS AI Boost that optimizes games and other tasks.

Dual cameras will be coming back from the ZenFone 4. This time, the ZenFone 5’s rear cameras will be backed with a Sony IMX363 sensor with a 12MP primary camera while its secondary 8MP camera will have a 120° wide-angle lens. The camera setup will also be improved a four-axis OIS as well as AI-assisted features, 4K recording, and RAW file support. Check out our first-hand preview of the ZenFone 5.

ASUS ZenFone 5Z

The ASUS ZenFone 5Z shares almost all the specifications found on the base ZenFone 5 such as the dual-camera setup, the 6.2-inch 19.9 display with the same 2246 x 1080 resolution. The only difference with the 5Z is its SoC. Inside the smartphone is a much more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 complemented by 6GB of RAM, which means it would deliver more performance compared to the ZenFone 5.

ASUS ZenFone 5Q

The ZenFone 5Q (also known as the ZenFone Lite internationally) is another smartphone in ASUS’ lineup of the latest generation of ZenFones. Despite being branded as “Lite” in some countries, its specifications are nothing but light.

The ASUS ZenFone 5Q packs a 20MP camera at the front and a 16MP at the rear. Both rear and front cameras are backed up by a 120° angle wide view secondary camera. The 5Q also carries over the 18:9 screen found on the ZenFone Max Plus. The screen is a 6.0-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2180 x 1080.

The ZenFone 5Q is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC and comes with NFC, triple-slot SIM, Face Recognition, a fingerprint scanner, and a 3,300mAh battery. See what we think about the ASUS ZenFone 5Q.
