ASUS has just announced the release date of the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 on their official Facebook page. With a release date of December 11, 2018, the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 is the latest and perhaps the most powerful addition yet to the brand’s Max lineup.
First spotted in the Russian ECC Certifications, the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 is expected to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC with up to 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The screen on the smartphone might be a notched 6.2-inch 19:9 display which results in a 2280 x 1080 resolution.
Sticking to their tradition of dual cameras, the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 allegedly has a 12MP + 5MP cameras at the back with the secondary being a wide-angle shooter based on previous ZenFone entries. The rear will also have a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner based on the teaser ASUS released a few weeks back.
Like the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1, the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 might be geared towards the gaming crowd to fill the spots left by the ROG Phone in the market. This might also mean that the latest addition to the Max lineup might remove the brand’s ZenUI in lieu of stock Android to give games more resources to work with.
No price yet has been indicated for the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2. Based on its specifications, however, we expect it to be sandwiched between the price points of the ASUS ZenFone 5 and the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1.
