Automatic Centre to close on October 10

Automatic Centre, one of the oldest appliance chains in the Philippines, is closing its doors on October 10, 2021 after 70 years of service due difficulties brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to President and Chief Executive Officer Geoffrey Lim said in a letter for its partners “The COVID-19 pandemic has caused tremendous challenges on our business and it is with much regret and trepidation that we share this news with you today.”

The letter also states that its retail store will wind down its appliance operations until its closure on October 10, 2021 but they will “remain committed to honoring our obligations and that we intend to work closely with each of you to ensure a smooth transition and closing process.”

Separation pay for its works and honoring existing warranties on appliances are yet to be clarified by Automatic Centre and its owners.

Founded in 1948 by Benito Lim, Automatic Centre has had a run of 70 years serving the public and has expended to around 20 stores in Metro Manila.
