In this Ghost of Yotei guide, we tackle one of the questions most players have in this game: “what is the best armor?” Get to know the best armors in the game, how to use it, and more using this guide.
Note that the recommendations in this guide are subjective and other players may have their own version of “best”.
It’s important to note that armors in Ghost of Yotei specialize in different aspects of the game. Some are made for stealth while others are made for ranged combat. There is no “one size fits all” best armor here. What’s important is you consider what style you are playing and then work around that.
Bounty Master Armor Max Stats |

Perfect Parry and Perfect Dodge windows are increased by a major amount, but regular Parries are disabled. |
A Perfect Parry enables 3 additional counterattacks |
All Spirit Gains are increased by a massive amount. |
The Bounty Master armor is one of the easy to get armors in the game. You can acquire it early on by doing bounties and it’s also easy to max it out. What makes it great is that it has perks that greatly increase your offensive capabilities. It increases perfect dodge and perfect parry window, increases counterattacks, and boosts Spirit gain. It also looks sleek when fully upgraded!
However, not everything is great as it completely disables regular Parries. You can still dodge though. A great way to go around this disadvantage is to use Charms that extend the Perfect Parry window, granting you a few more precious seconds to parry an incoming attack.
Hunt “Soma the Condemned” bounty in Chapter 1. This mission is in the Yotei Grasslands. To trigger this quest, complete several bounties until Kojiro gives you a special bounty. The bounty is straightforward but it does require you to travel a bit.
The above charms are also recommended for fighting against Takezo the Unrivaled.
Dragonfly Armor Max Stats |

Fully drawing your bow creates a brief timed glint. Firing an arrow during the glint empowers your shot, majorly increasing its damage and range. |
Firing an empowered Arrow grants a moderate amount of Concentration. |
Increase Arrow reload speed by a major amount. |
Similar to the Bounty Master Armor, the Dragonfly Armor can easily be acquired during the first few hours of the game. It’s an armor focused on the ranged gameplay of Ghost of Yotei, its bonuses significantly granting buffs to bows. If you prefer a playstyle that seeks to dominate enemies from afar, maxing out this armor is the way to go.
Complete the “The Dragonfly Armor” side quest in Chapter 1. This mission is in the Ohara Plains. To trigger this quest, talk to Ginji the Armorer at Haranui’s Rest Inn. The quest requires you to find Daijiro, the owner of the armor, gamble with him, and then save him from Saito’s men.
As stated above, these armors work pretty well with certain charms. Other armors do so as well. If you want to experience different play styles in Ghost of Yotei, it’s recommended that you also try out other armors for Atsu. Being creative in this game is incredibly rewarding and having your own unique style can pay off in duels and in assaulting Yotei Six camps.
Ghost of Yotei is now out on the PS5 and you can purchase it either online via the official PS5 product page or via your local game stores.
