I’ve been in different kind of massage spas throughout the years. By massage spas, I am referring to legit, clean massage spas that usually offers Thai or Swedish massage. Vibe Massage on the other hand, is not your ordinary dimly-lit massage spa – Vibe Massage provides you with courteous blind masseurs.
Vibes Massage is owned and managed by Ka-Vibes Corporation, established by a group of blind members of Vibes Inc., it currently has 56 branches; 45 of which are owned and managed by almost 300 blind therapists, while 11 are owned and managed by regular customers.
Experience
I’ve been hearing alot good stuff about their massage and luckily a branch opened in QC, along D.Tuazon. To start of, I would just like to say that getting a massage from a blind person versus my a regular person is much more relaxing. I am not taking credit from regular therapists, but I’ve been to cheaper blind massages in malls, and they out perform even the most expensive massages I had in my life.
Coming from work, my back was killing me. I know I have lot’s of lamig so rather than braving the rush hour traffic, I thought to drop by the Vibes Massage in Sct. Alcaraz Cor. D. Tuazon, in Quezon City. This was my second time visiting the institution so I had a few ideas to what to get – although they offer the following:
Bed Massage
*You may choose to get a synergistic therapeutic massage which is a combination of Swedish, Shiatsu, Hand and Foot Reflexology and some Acupressure massage or a Pinoy Hilot/ Swedish.
Chair Massage
Basically, it is the same thing as the bed massage without the oil, cheaper and less comfortable.
Oriental Foot Massage
This service is one of the best foot massage I’ve ever experience. If you are pressed for time and budget, I suggest to try this out first.
My therapist is Ronald, he is partially blind since birth and is about to take a therapist certification exam soon.
“Sabi nga ng ibang customer, buti pa kami, kahit bulag marangal trabaho namin… Yung iba maayos nakaupo lang, nagpapalaki ng tiyan.” – Ronald
Ronald is one hell of a therapist, and is very courteous while doing so. He frequently ask if the pressure is okay, he talks about his life and being a therapist, and tell stories about how he got into massaging. At this point you might be thinking that could not be relaxing because all of the conversation going, but I could guess that you could ask Ronald that you want a quiet relaxing massage. In my case, I enjoyed the conversation and his stories. He is particular great with back massages, lower back problem that I felt was caused by too much driving around, he found it and it was gone! Back problems caused by lamig was no longer a problem after the 1 hour massage.
Ambiance and Location
The place is simple, no frills, no complicated Thai design – a couple of massage benches for chair massages, and a number of solo and couple cubicle for bed massages. Unlike regular massage spas, Vibe Massage is equipped with massage beds rather than floor level-ed thin mattresses. The ambiance could be improved with dimmer lights, and a softer volume of relaxing music, but hey – it’s cheaper than Thai spas, and is a better experience.
For this branch, there is ample parking space since it is located within a Caltex gas station. It can be easily spotted as well.
Conclusion
It was a religious experience and one of the most relaxing moment of my life. The therapist, Ronald was one of the most friendly and one of the best masseurs I have ever paid for a massage. Compared to a regular Thai, or Swedish massage, blind therapist are trained better and with skills and strength that are way above normal therapists.
