BYD Cars Philippines and AC Mobility have achieved a new milestone in the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) market. The Ayala mobility platform sold 4,780 BYD passenger vehicles – an 82% share in the Philippine NEV market for 2024.
Of these sold units, 2,078 comprised the BYD Seagull, Dolphin, Atto 3, T3, Seal, Han, and Tang. It currently has a 69% market share in the BEV segment. BYD leads the country in battery-electric vehicles sold in 2024.
The BYD Sealion 6 DM-i proves to be the most popular model in the Philippines with 2,699 units sold in 2024. It is also the best-selling model in the combined NEV and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) segments with a 19% market share.
2024 is a milestone year for BYD as they experienced an overall growth of 8,900% compared to their 2023 sales. This puts them as the 11th best-selling automotive brand in the Philippines with a 1.0% market share.
Last year, BYD sold 4,272,145 NEVs globally, up by 41.26% from 2023. This is the first time the company has sold more than 4 million units in a single year.
“We are beyond thrilled to share our performance in 2024, marking a pivotal year for BYD in the Philippines,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines. “This achievement reflects the dedication of our team, the unwavering support of our dealer partners and suppliers, and most importantly, the trust of our valued customers. Together, we will continue driving the Philippines toward a smarter and greener future with innovative and accessible solutions.”
The aforementioned BYD Sealion 6 DMI-i also commanded a 14.6% share in the overall Compact-SUV market in 2024 and a 25.9 market share in the same segment from July to December last year.
The BYD Atto 3 subcompact crossover sold 1,062 units in 2024. This enables the model to take a 35% market share in the segment.
Their 3rd best selling unit is the BYD Seagull with a total of 411 units released to customers in 2024. First introduced in the country back in September 2024, it managed to get 38% share of the BEV segment in the last quarter of 2024 while taking 14% of the overall BEV market for the whole year.
A key factor in BYD’s growth is their rapid and extensive dealer expansion. BYD only had 2 dealerships at the start of 2024, but they closed the year with 25 operational dealerships in various locations nationwide.
