Canon EOS-1D X Mark III launches in PH for PhP 400K

Canon is always at the forefront of camera technologies. Last year, we saw the arrival of their first full-frame mirrorless, the EOS R, in the Philippines. This year, the brand is bringing their latest achievement in camera technology, the Canon EOS-1D X Mark III.

The Canon EOS-1D X Mark III uses the latest 20.1MP 35mm full frame sensor from the brand.  A new AF sensor has also been utilized to allow its users to choose from 191 AF points. All of the EOS-1D X Mark III’s AF points support exposure of up to f/8 over the entire AF area with 65 cross-type points at f/8.

Canon’s new DIGIC X image processor allows a burst rate of around 1000 shots for RAW + JPEG and stores it to a dual slot CFexpress storage solutions. The new processor allows the camera to reach ISO 102,400 while retaining detail in low-light environments.

Meanwhile, a dedicated DIGIC 8 processor supports the camera’s AF management and controls the 400,000-pixel RGB+IR metering sensor. In addition, the camera has a 16-point low pass filter, which incorporates the Gaussian filter that reduces moire, color distortion, and still better suit high-resolution lenses.

The Canon EOS-1D X Mark III is one of the first cameras to offer HDR PQ HEIF, which is a 10-bit recording standard for photos that uses high-resolution and low-noise approaches compared to conventional standards.

HEIF files can be easily converted to JPEG format while still having the same “feel” to those shot with HDR PQ. While RAW is still handy, this can eliminate the need for RAW stills for retouching and adjustment, particularly for photos with strong contrast or lighter tones in neutral colored areas.

The latest entry in the EOS series increases burst shooting to 16fps and up to 20fps for Live View shooting for both RAW and RAW + JPEG. Canon’s new mirror system employs a high-speed mechanism to retract and reset the mirror.

The Canon EOS-1D X Mark III can record 4K UHD (3840 x 2160, 16:9) videos without cropping. It comes with CINEMA EOS SYSTEM-approved Canon Log. The device supports H.265 HEVC encoding ensuring wide gradation, vivid color range while retaining a smaller file size.

The in-camera 5.5K RAW movie is also available on the EOS-1D X Mark III allowing its users to shoot HDR clips, high-contrast scenes, and situations that require advanced editing. Faster movie shooting is also possible at 120p/100p at FullHD with the camera.

The Canon EOS-1D X Mark III will be available in key Canon authorized partners nationwide starting March 2020 for PhP 399,998.
