CMF, Nothing’s sub-brand, has launched its second smartphone globally, and it does look rather interesting. The company has designed it with some modularity for accessories in mind, but still packs it with plenty of hardware under-the-hood.

The CMF Phone 2 Pro separates itself from other smartphones with its unique design. Instead of a minimalist and flat rear, the smartphone has a more cluttered and utilitarian look. Its rear cameras protrude from the chassis. There are also screws at the sides to mount accessories and easier access to its internals.

While novel as you can attach that you can attach accessories on the device, it seems that finding first-party accessories is hard. There are no listings yet on their official website aside from the previous generation.

Its chassis is made out of plastic with a textured grip. Though there are screws that might make the device bulkier, they are actually mounted relatively flush against the chassis. At the bottom are its SIM tray, USB-C port, and single bottom-firing speaker.

The volume rocker is placed at the left, while the power button is located at the right. The latter is accompanied with the Essential Key, which is a shortcut button to Essential Space or analyzes what you have on screen. We would have liked it if it was a programmable macro key, but there’s no first-party solutions yet though there are workarounds.

At the front is a 6.77-inch 2392 x 1084 Flexible AMOLED display running at 120Hz. The screen is vibrant and has deep blacks as expected from an AMOLED panel. Outdoor brightness reaches 1,300nits, which is plenty enough to be used even while the sun is at its highest.

Its imaging system includes a 50MP f/1.85 main camera, an 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide, and a 16MP f/2.45 front-facing shooter. They are able to take vibrant and detailed photos in good lighting.

Inside its chassis is a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro 5G chip paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage. It’s only a slight upgrade from the last generation’s Dimensity 7300 chip, but it performs well on most tasks.

The device runs on Nothing OS 3.2 based on Android 15. While it is heavily skinned, it still has a minimalist style of the brand. Nothing is promising up to 3 major Android updates for the CMF Phone 2 Pro.

Power comes from a 5,000mAh battery that supports 33W charging. It’s rather disappointing that it lags behind some of its peers with 6,000mAh and above capacities. Charging speeds also pales in comparison against others.

We still have to do some testing to get a full picture of the CMF Phone 2 Pro, but we are liking the positives that we found. Stay tuned.
