Dawn of War III Announced!

-

Cleanse, Purge, and Kill! For the third time. Dawn of War III, the third installment from the intergalactic epic from Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40K has just been announced. Developer Relic Entertainment, known from blockbuster games such as Company of Heroes and Dawn of War II, will again take the helm. The last Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War was released about five years ago and fans of both the tabletop and PC game have long-awaited for the sequel of their beloved game. Watch the announcement trailer below:

The trailer shows a large number of corpses and just THREE factions battling it out. We’re shown with the staple Space Marines, the Orks, and the Eldar, and that’s about it. Further factions are speculated to appear as DLCs.

We’re also treated to a fight between gargantuan machines and a voice-over that adds poetic justice to a pretty subjective trailer. Anyway, it’s an announcement of Dawn of War III so, HOORAY!

As per reports from PCGamer.com, base-building has returned and large armies are back in action as opposed to the more tactical approach in Dawn of War II. Units gain experience and level up. To summarize, the best of both the first Dawn of War and Dawn of War II minus the factions. The large mechanized bipeds in the trailer will also play a big part in battles.

Going to their official site should be a trip reserved for later as it still lacks significant information about the product. However, those who wish to get there and subscribe to Relic’s newsletter are given this ultimatum: “The Loyal Shall be Rewarded.” Signing up for their newsletter would give the user some freebies once the Dawn of War III is released. Other than that, some bonus goodies if you own Company of Heroes 2.

No announcement as of yet with the release date of Dawn of War III.
