DITO Telecommunity has partnered with ZTE to improve the Philippines’ network infrastructure with its deployment of TDD Massive MIMO technology.
As the Philippines’ 3rd largest telco, Telco now has 7,000 physical sites, an 86% network coverage rate, and more than 13 million active users since its launch in 2019. They are driving rapid growth especially in 5G services, and has even been awarded OpenSignal’s Philippines’ Fastest Mobile Network this 2024.
DITO has conducted a comprehensive evaluation of TDD Massive MIMO technologies, where they have chosen the 32T3TR as their preferred solution thanks to its performance and cost efficiency to keep up to 4G demand in the country.
Led by DITO Telecommunity Wireless and Network Planning Senior Advisor Mr. Vincent Zhou and assisted by ZTE, they have launched the pilot site in high-demand areas. Their implementation of 32T32R resulted in 99% improvement in spectrum efficiency, 92% increase in average cell traffic volume, and 75% growth in average connected users compared to 8T8R.
Following the pilot, both companies are gearing up to expand the commercial rollout of the 32T32R solution. This will alleviate pressure on high-traffic areas and meet the growing connectivity needs of Filipinos.
