While DJI is famous for their consumer-grade drones such as the Mavic, they have also made waves of innovations with their Enterprise Lineup to help with commercial-grade solutions. In a recent launch, they have introduced the new DJI Dock 2, several new drones, and imaging systems, to help with the improvement of various sectors such as security, public safety, and fire fighting.
The DJI Dock 2 is the brand’s next generation drone dock. It is now smaller and lighter than its predecessor, making it easier to transport and setup. As it’s meant to be used outdoors, it’s rated IP55 for dust and water resistance to be more resilient in harsh weather conditions.
Before deploying its drones, the dock will use vision sensors to evaluate a site to ensure that their flight path and destination have good GNSS signals to streamline deployment. Maintenance is required only every six month and can be operated for up to 5 hours thanks to its built-in battery.
DJI’s ecosystem is not limited to hardware as the Dock 2 is integrated to the DJI FLightHub 2 for cloud-based management. This enables you to manage a fleet from a browser from your headquarters without needing to go out in the field.
The Dock 2 will also support the new DJI Matrice 3D and 3TD drones. Much like the dock, they are meant to be used outdoors regardless of conditions and thus come with IP rating for water resistance. They also come with RTK antennas, 6 omnidirectional cameras for obstacle sensing, and automatic bypass capabilities. DJI says that they can be in the air for around 50 minutes with up to a 10km operating radius from the dock.
The Matrice 3D is designed for automatic mapping and surveying with its 12MP telephoto camera with a ½ CMOS sensor and a 20MP wide camera with a mechanical shutter which meets the needs for high-precision mapping tasks.
On the other hand, the Matrice 3TD is meant for security and inspection operations. Its telephoto camera is upgraded to a 48MP shooter with a 1/1.32 CMOS sensor while its secondary camera is an infrared camera that detects visible light and thermal images.
Their Matrice Series Drones are compatible with the new flagship Zenmuse H30 series modules. They will come with five major modules – a wide angle camera, a zoon camera, an infrared thermal camera, a laser range finder, and an NIR auxiliary light – that enables better imaging suitable for specialized applications.
Its cameras can reach up to 34x optical zoom and 400x digital zoom to observe subjects at greater distances with more detail. To keep images stable, DJI’s stabilization algorithm diminishes shake in telephoto footage for clearer imagery.
Both its wide angle and zoom cameras can switch to Night Scene mode and supports full-color night vision for peak operational efficiency regardless of light conditions.
