DJI Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom now available

-

DJi has officially brought their new Mavic 2 series drones in the Philippines. Composed of the Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom, DJI’s new drones are the most advanced drones the brand has built yet.

Mavic 2 Pro

The first drone with an integrated Hasselblad camera, the DJI Mavic 2 Pro has been built to deliver outstanding image quality with superior light and color performance. Inside the drone’s lenses is a 1.0-inch CMOS sensor with a 10bit Dlog-M color profile that allows the drone to capture four times as many levels of color per channel compared to the Mavic Pro.

The Mavc 2 Pro can capture 20MP aerial shots with better color accuracy with the help of the Hasselblad Natural Color Solution (HNCS) technology. The lens on the drone is equipped with an adjustable aperture of f/2.8 to f/11 to allow better control in different lighting situations.

Mavic 2 Zoom

Powered by a ½.3-inch CMOS sensor, the Mavic 2 Zoom is DJI’s first foldable consumer drone that has allows two times optical zoom (24 – 48mm). If that’s not enough, the Mavic 2 Zoom can also do also emulate a 96mm telephoto lens via its two times digital zoom, which allows the drone to capture lossless 1080p videos. To show off its zoom lens, the Mavic 2 Zoom comes exclusive with a new Dolly Zoom QuickShot mode that automatically zooms in on its subject as it flies away.

The Mavic 2 Zoom combines phase and contrast detection for better focus accuracy, which DJI says tallows up to 40% faster focus speed compared to previous drones. The drone is also capable of shooting 12MP photos are getting 48MP Super Resolution photos by stitching nine photos together.

Both the Mavic 2 Zoom and Mavc 2 Pro can capture 4K UHD video with a maximum of 100mbps via the H.265 codec. As for photographers, their new Enhanced High Dynamic Range can blend a sequence of photos for ghost-free high dynamic range that allows the Mavic 2 Pro 14 stops of dynamic range and 13 stops for the Mavic 2 Zoom.

Using the DJI Go 4 Mobile app, users can unlock several new features for both drones:

  • Free – Pilots the drone manually while shooting a Hyperlapse video
  • Circle – Automatically flies the drone in a circular pattern around a subject users select to create a time-lapse video that captures the action.
  • Course Lock – Keeps the camera fixed on shooting a subject while the drone flies in a straight direction to create a unique perspective.
  • Waypoint – Plans a complex flight path based on both altitude and GPS coordinates to capture complex shots

A better flier

The Mavic 2 series of drones have also improved their flying capabilities. DJI’s fully upgraded FlighAutonomy system transmits data to a more powerful CPU with the help of 10 sensors on all sides to detect obstacles that leads to an overall safer flight.

DJI has also implemented an improved Advanced Pilot Assistance System (APAS) on their new drones to analyze its surrounding environment and automatically fly around obstacles without stopping. The drones’ Bottom Auxillary Light turns on automatically to let its users see in low-light situations.

Both drones also comes with a newly designed OcuSync 2.0 video transmission system that automatically switches between 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz bands that reliable transmits 1080p videos at a distance of up to 8kms.

DJI says that their new drones have better aerodynamic airframes that reduces drag by up to 19%. This allows both the Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom to reach up to 44mp/h (72km/h) in Sport Mode. Together with their more efficient propulsion system, the Mavic 2 allows for a maximum flight time of 31 minutes.

Both the DJI Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom are now available for purchase. Here are several kits that users can get from stores:

  • PhP 98,800 – Mavic 2 Pro, battery, remote controller, charger, four pairs of propellers
  • PhP 76,300 – Mavic 2 Zoom, battery, remote controller, charger, four pairs of propellers
