DOTA 2 has just released a chest to celebrate its momentous 10th anniversary. After a decade of first bloods, rampages, and that occasional raging, we get something tangible to reminisce those younger years of ours. Take a look at the offerings and skins below, how to get DOTA 2 10th Anniversary Chests and more using this handy list and guide.
Below are the 13 rewards that you can get from the chest. You may also notice that some have appeared before as exclusive rewards so if you’re gunning for them, now is the perfect time to do so. Some rewards are also upgraded versions of beloved classics, so even if you have the same skin, you may get an alternative skin of some sort with these rewards.
Note that all of them are cosmetics and do not, in anyway, have any meaningful or significant impact to your stats in-game. You just look good if you equip them and sometimes, that matters.
Old school Dota fans spent 2011 playing the open beta and taking in the first incarnation of The International. One or two players even encountered a bug. Thankfully we identified the sole wizard responsible and used him to deflect all the blame.
Some item sets are iconic from the first day they appear. Others are a bit more… controversial. This somehow managed to be both. Transport yourself back to the simpler days of 2012, when a bear in a Bavarian hat managed to get an entire community’s lederhosen in a twist.
Three years in, and just getting started, Dota 2 emerged from beta from an official release. We didn’t just add a bunch of heroes in 2013, we also took Skeleton King away — for ceremonial reasons — and released the completely different Wraith King in his place.
2014 was a magical time, when we could have it all. Movies. Games. Movies bout games. Specifically, we had a Dota documentary to show friends and family that they might actually understand.
In a year of epic Dota, one earthshaking moment in 2015 stands above them all: when EG slam-blasted CDEC out of Roshan’s pit and out of The International — rolling on to claim the Aegis with the victory.
In December 2016, the 7.00 Countdown closed out the broadcast of The Boston Major. It celebrated Dota’s long history and set the stage for Monkey King and The New Journey to come.
New game modes packed the calendar in 2017, as players started the year fending off relentless waves of enemies in Dark Moon, entered the summer surviving the brutally difficult Siltbreaker campaign, and queued up at the end of the year for a quicker Dota fix in Turbo mode.
“Please email me at gaben@ valvesoftware.com and tell me about your rampage.” With these immortal, stupd lines from his 2018 announcer pack, Valve’s founder shocked everyone by both giving his real email address and actaully being interested in hearing about our rampages.
For the longest time, there were only three spirit brothers — Earth Spirit, Ember Spirit and Storm Spirit. “Not enough!” said spirit fans. “We demand one more!” And we listened. On August 24th, 2019, Void Spirit made his debut onstage at The International in Shanghai.
Not a very eventful year, but notable in that there was no The International. Instead, Dota players consoled themselves in 2020 inside the winding corridors of Aghanim’s Lab, where they finally got a chance to meet the eponymous creator of Aghanim’s Scepter and discover that he was kind of full of himself.
This custom Roshan replacement can be equipped in the World options of the Global Items loadout menu.
After watching DOTA: Dragon’s Blood in 2021 and getting a chance to meet Filomena, players felt a lot less smug about helping Selemene during Dark Moon way back in 2017.
You might notice that every other item in this treasure has a thematic connection to the year it celebrates, and 2022 is no exception: Here is a CRT Screen overlay so it looks like you’re playing Dota but in the 90s. Just like in 2022.
This item is seasonal and will expire when the 10-Year Anniversary celebration concludes.
Some things never change. But DOta is not one of those never-changing things. It still receives seismic updates after more than a dozen years, and the next monumental meta shift — be it through gameplay updates or good old fashioned player-driven innovation — is always just days away.
This item is seasonal and will expire when the 10-Year Anniversary celebration concludes.
To get the Dota 2 10th Anniversary Treasure Chests, you only have to win games. Be it in either ranked or casual matches, netting a win guarantees a 10th Anniversary Treasure. For those who fancy Turbo, you need two wins to get a single chest.
If you’re thinking of grinding the treasures with your friends, best play with as a five-man team to get better results.
The good thing about the Dota 2 10th Anniversary treasure event is that all of these things are for free. You don’t have to pay anything and no battle pass is required to get the rewards. Again, you only need to win matches to get one.
As usual, not all things are meant to last in Dota 2. You only have until the 8th of September to get the chests from either Turbo, Casual matches, or from Ranked matches.
