DOTr’s inter-agency technical working group (TWG) who is leading the pilot run of the Motorcycle Taxi services such as Angkas, Joyride, and Move It have announced today its termination of the pilot run two months ahead of the March 2020 schedule.
Antonio Gardiola of the DOTr-TWG announced the termination today to the media due to the reason of “Chaos”, primarily the reason of the study is to gather data and resolution for the service if its feasible in Metro Manila.
“Magulo eh. We are resorting to legal rigmarole sa nangyayaring ito. Nai-impede ang study, we cannot gather data because of actions being undertaken by one of the players so it’s better to terminate it,” Gardiola said.
The termination of the pilot run has been endorsed by Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade as per Gardiola. In the statement released to the media, it seems DOTr is pointing at one player for their actions and causing the inability to gather any more data.
The pilot run of the Motorcycle Services will end this week, which means that all motorcycle taxi services like Angkas, Joyride, Move It, and more are now considered illegal. Apprehension will enforce should they pursue to flight passengers.
Posted by Manila Bulletin, part of the TWG’s recommendation of terminating the Motorcycle Taxi study is to blacklist DBDOYC, Inc. AKA Angkas and its incorporators from further participating as a Motorcycle Taxi service provider. This is in an event that RA 4136 will be amended, this is due to their blatant defiance of the rules mandated by the TWG.
