The OnTrac is Dyson’s latest attempt to enter the high-fidelity headphone space. Instead of a having a funky wearable purifier like the Zone, the OnTrac is an audio-only platform sporting up to 55 hours of listening time, noise cancellation, and plenty of customization options.
Dyson claims that the OnTrac offers the best-in-class active noise-cancellation. Its ANC uses a custom algorithm that uses 8 microphones and sampling external sound 384,000 times a second. Combined with its materials and design, it promises to cancel up to 40dB of noise.
Powering its audio are 40mm, 16-ohm neodymium drivers with advanced audio signal processing. It can reproduce sounds from 6Hz to 21KHz that promises clear highs and deep sub-bass. Its speaker housing is tilted 13˚ towards the ear for a more direct audio response.
Each cushion is made from microfiber and foam for comfort and seal. Its battery is placed within the headband and ensures a balanced weight distribution on the head when paired with its gimbal arms.
There are capacitive sensors when the earcups are removed from the ears to automatically pause audio and play once replaced. A joystick can be used to for playback controls or be held down for voice commands.
Dyson’s headphones will come in four colorways with finishes designed by Jake Dyson and their CMF Team. Options include CNC Aluminium, Copper, and Nickel. The Ceramic Cinnabar variant has a ceramic-feel painted finish. In addition to these, you are able to customize the OnTrac with custom outer caps and ear cushions in various colors and finishes.
There is integration via the MyDyson App. This includes real-time sound-tracking to monitor in-ear and external volume to alert you from potentially harmful levels of volume, and three custom EQ modes: Bass Boost, Neutral, and Enhanced.
The Dynson OnTrac is priced at USD 499.99 with each set of its caps and cushions going for USD 49.99 per set. The headphones are now available via Dyson’s official website.
