Expedition 38’s journal can be found in Yellow Harvest, an optional location. Yellow Harvest is one of the bigger optional maps in the game but looking for this one is quite easy. Upon entering the area with a pool of water in the middle, immediately turn right and take the slope up. Continue up until you reach a landing. The journal of Expedition 38 can be found in the middle of the landing.

We buried Patrick near the lake, so he could be close to water. I know he really missed the aquafarm and his floating gardens.
Pierre-Oscar thinks it’s a waste of time to update this journals, but I find it strangely comforting. I suppose, at its core, it’s a record that we existed. That we still exist.
The Gommage is coming, but I feel at peace. It’s just the two of us, but we managed to carve out a tiny sliver of a life of our own.
I should feel guilty, maybe, for abandoning the mission. But I don’t.

Collecting Journals is not for naught! Once you collect a good amount, you can exchange them for those tasty Colour of Lumina. And it’s not a small amount either, you can get about 100 Colour of Lumina if you collect enough and exchange them at the Gestral Village. You can find this Gestral by turning left and heading towards the Gestral Bazaar once you pass the village gates.
