Expedition 58’s journal is automatically acquired as you progress through Old Lumiere. It is the journal picked up by Lune and the party once their exploration part of the area is done. Although integral to the story, viewing this journal is optional and you may forget to read it. To do so, simply open up the Journal menu to view it.

The behemoth is such a marvel. It has a small city on its back that I really want to explore, but the others think it’s too risky, too easy to get caught by the Nevs around here. Bah!
Verso called this thing an Axon, apparently they are incredibly powerful, with hearts of pure chroma. Utterly unkillable! Except clearly something did.
Verso and his father, Renoir, spent years trying to kill the Axons, hoping to forge their hearts into a weapon to break the Barrier. But no dice.
I bet the Curator would love to get his hands on one of those hearts, he could easily forge such a weapon.
Collecting Journals is not for naught! Once you collect a good amount, you can exchange them for those tasty Colour of Lumina. And it’s not a small amount either, you can get about 100 Colour of Lumina if you collect enough and exchange them at the Gestral Village. You can find this Gestral by turning left and heading towards the Gestral Bazaar once you pass the village gates.
As they were mostly written by members of previous Expeditions, journals explain a lot about the world of Clair Obscu: Expedition 33. These journals contain discoveries, horrors, and even triumphs of those that went before Expedition 33. Collecting them might be optional but if you really want to learn more about the world, you may have to explore a lot while keeping your eyes peeled.
