Commanding a legion can be a grueling task in Expeditions Rome. An important resource to maintain is “Manpower” or the number of active legionnaires that you have ready for battle. So, how can you increase Manpower in your legion? This guide will tell you all about that!
Expeditions Rome: Manpower – Legion Size
Once you get command of your legion, you then get peppered with administrative tasks to help maintain it. One of which is procuring enough manpower to maintain combat effectiveness during battles. You can check the number of manpower that you have by going to either your Primus Pilus or the Barracks. The Primus Pilus does not give an exact number but simply shares his thoughts about the legion’s readiness. The Barracks provides a more accurate number.
The Legion Barracks is unlocked during the early stages of the game. You can access it after finishing the quest March on Mytilene. A legion can be used to pacify regions to collect resources from them to upgrade your legion camp.
How To View Manpower Using The World Map
Legion manpower can be quickly viewed while on the world map. You can just hover over the icon of a legion to know the numbers that it currently has. You can also get important information such as morale, experience, and missing/injured manpower.
How To View Manpower Using The Legion Barracks
- Go to your legion camp
- Interact with the Barracks
- Select the Party tab
- On the upper right of the screen is the number of active manpower together with the Replenish button
Expeditions Rome: Manpower – How To Get More
1st Method: Pay Using Denarii
The most straightforward way of getting more people in your legion: paying them. When you get a lot of denarii, you can use that to help replenish the lost men. You can do this by interacting with the legion Barracks and using the Party tab to access the “Replenish” button.
This is the most reliable way of adding more manpower to your legion.
How Do You Get More Money?
You can sell your surplus resources in the market. The map generates an infinite amount of Food, Medicine, and Slaves. Be on the lookout for places in which you can get them then send in your legion to collect. The more territories you pacify, the better. Time is not a concern in this game so you can wait them out and get rich in the process. Once you get a large amount, you can sell them for Denarii that you then use to purchase more manpower.
Denarii is carried over to the next Act, so you can farm money once you get full control of the world map.
2nd Method: Capture Enemies During or After Battle
You can get Stratagems that can help you gather missing manpower, heal injured men, or even recruit surrendering enemies to bolster your ranks. Don’t rely on these stratagems too much though as they are more or less just means to reduce your losses during a battle.
3rd Method: Special Events & Encounters
Some events in the main story, sidequests, and random encounters, can provide additional men for your legion. Sometimes, picking the right choices or having the right Rhetorical Style can lead to interesting results.
As you can get locked out of certain options and encounters are random, it is best not to rely in these to raise your manpower. Sure, they are helpful, but then again, these events are few and far between.
