Launched in China late last year, the OPPO A83 has arrived in the Philippines. The new addition in OPPO’s A-series sports a 5.7-inch 1440 x 720 display, an 8MP front camera, a 13MP main camera together with OPPO’s selfie innovation; Smart Selfie (formerly known as AI Beautification).
Let’s get the technical details out of the way first. Inside the OPPO A83 is a 2.5GHz MT6763 octa-core SoC paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. All the juice of the A83 comes from its 3,180mAh battery. All these running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with ColorOS 3.2.
The A83 has the same AI Beautification as the OPPO F5 and the F5 Youth, although it has been rebranded under the moniker “Smart Selfie” to be a bit easier for the ears. For the uninitiated, OPPO’s AI Beautification or Smart Selfie automatically adjusts the selfie beautification depending on the details of your face to maximize the beautification without looking cartoonish.
OPPO has also carried over the face unlock feature from the F5 and F5 Youth to the A83, which means that you’ll be able to unlock the smartphone using only your face.
The OPPO A83 will be available in stores soon for PhP 9,990.
