In Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes (FEW3H), players can unlock Arval, the “person” inside Shez’s head. Get to know how to unlock Arval, his special abilities, and more using this guide.
The first condition to unlock Arval is to recruit Byleth, the Ashen Demon. To recruit Byleth, you must refuse to fight him in the main battle of Chapter 10 and focus only on the objective. After the fight, Byleth joins your faction together with his father, Jeralt.

Finally, to be able to recruit Arval, you must clear the game for the first time. After clearing the game, you will then be allowed to use your renown to buy legendary items and characters. Among the choices of characters that you can recruit using renown is Arval. To recruit Arval, go to your personal camp and interact with the journal. From there, select “Spend Renown” and then “Unlock Units” then select Arval from the list. You need to have 60 Renown in order to purchase him.
Arval is a Dark Bishop by default. However, if you feel that other roles are fit for him, say a Dancer, you are free to change Arval’s class.
Arval’s Support Levels max out at level C for all characters. He also does not have any special conversations or interactions.
Adds dark or light to attacks, switching with ZR. Attacking fills the Unique Ability Gauge.
Switching from light to dark will gather enemies within a range determined by how full the gauge is.
Switching from dark to light will cause attacks to instantly knock out any non-commander units within range determined by how full the gauge is. The higher the ability level, the faster the gauge fills.
