Vanguard Whistle |
---|
A whistle that signals your army to advance. Can be used to instantly capture unclaimed regions. |
You can only get the Vanguard Whistle once you complete the game for the first time. This can be done with any of the three story campaigns. You can buy the Vanguard Whistle in your personal tent in the camp by accessing your Journal. From there, select “Spend Renown” then “Purchase Items”. At the bottom of the list is the Vanguard Whistle and it can be purchased for 3 Renown.

To capture a region using the Vanguard Whistle, highlight the hostile region that you want to capture, then press R. Select “Yes” to occupy the region. Note that this action expends one Vanguard Whistle.
The main purpose of the Vanguard Whistle is to make your following playthroughs easier by allowing you to immediately capture regions without participating in a battle. This makes the game simpler, giving you ample time to capture and concentrate solely on the objectives. However, regions not encountered during your previous playthrough graded with the lowest score, D, when you use Vanguard Whistle on them. Note that you can still replay the region for higher ranks but obviously, this defeats the purpose of the Vanguard Whistle.
The Vanguard Whistle can only be used once. However, you can buy multiples of this for easy usage. As you use hard-to-earn Renown to get Vanguard Whistles, be wary on how you use them and try to skip only those missions that you have finished in your previous playthroughs.
