First impressions: ASUS ZenBook 13 UX333FN Burgundy Red

It seems that ASUS will be bringing another variant of the ASUS ZenBook 13 here in the Philippines. Clad in Burgundy Red, the ASUS ZenBook 13 UX333FN-A4161T (otherwise known as the ASUS ZenBook 13 Burgundy Red), will surely set you apart from most ultrabooks in town.

An Eye-Catching Design

ASUS have been redesigning their laptops to be more eye-catching for everyone. With the ASUS ZenBook 13 UX333FN-A4161T, the brand hasn’t stopped with just minimizing the footprint of the notebook but painted it in Burgundy Red that’s sure to get the attention of everyone.

Aside from the new paint job, the ASUS ZenBook 13 Burgundy Red shares the same space-saving features that the new range of ZenBooks have. With a height of only 16.9mm, the device is arguably one of the thinnest ultrabooks in the market.

It still has everything we loved about the ZenBook 13

The Burgundy Red color scheme on the ASUS ZenBook 13 UX333FN-A4161T is the only thing that’s different about the device. That’s not a bad thing in this case. The notebook shares most of the specifications that made the “vanilla” variants of the ZenBook 13 great.

The display is still a 13.3-inch 16:9 IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and support for 100% sRGB color coverage. The bezels have also been minimized to only 2.88mm at the sides.

Inside the notebook is an Intel Core i5-8265U Whiskey Lake processor alongside with 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM clocked at 2133MHz, and an NVIDIA GeForce MX150 2GB graphics. As for storage, the device comes with a rather fast 512GB of NVMe SSD running at PCie 3.0 x2 speeds.

The notebook still comes with the NumberPad but with a slight color twist

The touchpad on the ASUS ZenBook 13 Burgundy Red doubles as a NumberPad. To activate it, you would only need to tap the NumberPad icon at the top-right of the TouchPad.

Instead of having Blue backlight, the NumberPad on the ZenBook 13 UX333FN-A4161T will light up in the same color of the chassis. ASUS has also removed the printed legends on the NumberPad, which leads to a smoother touchpad experience.

The keyboard is still backlit like its contemporaries. Unfortunately, the keyboard is lit up with White LEDs. It would have been nice for ASUS to throw in Burgundy Red LEDs as well to complete the look of the notebook.

Same number of ports

At the right-hand side of the ASUS ZenBook 13 UX333FN-A4161T are its DC input, a full-sized HDMI port, a USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A port, and a USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C port. Like the original model, the Type-C port on the device isn’t Thunderbolt 3 compatible.

Ports found on the other side is composed of a MicroSD Card Reader, a single USB 2.0 Type-A connection, a 3.5mm audio jack, and HDD activity and battery charging light indicators.
