After two decades of service, Chikka has announced on its official Facebook page that it will now close its doors. Loyal customers now only have until March 31, 2018 to use its free text service until it officially closes down.
Its community was greatly distressed in the announcement of its closure as it has, on many occasions, saved its users in sending important texts whenever they are out of load.
The Internet-based messaging app established its connections to local telcos back in early 2000. The Chikka Text Messenger was the first instant messaging app in the Philippines to support sending and receiving free SMS messages between users.
Frankly, we’ve had our moments when we were saved by Chikka. Are you a Chikka user? How do you feel about its closure? Let us know by dropping down a comment below.
