GAC Motor Philippines is accelerating its 2023 growth by launching the EMPOW and the all-new GS8. Both models are promising modern design, fine craftsmanship, superior build quality, and cutting-edge technology. The two cars will be distributed in the Philippines by Astara.
GAC Motors EMPOW
The EMPOW sports futuristic lines with a muscle car-esque silhouette to give it an aggressive design. It has an oversized front grille, 18-inch alloy wheels, and quad exhausts at the rear for a muscular appearance. More eye-catching details are added with its automatic LED headlights and extended rear lights to add overall visual appeal on the road.
Its sporty design continues in its interior. With its supercar-style colored leather panels, fighter-jet inspired seats, and carbon fiber materials. The brand is equipping it with two screens – a 7-inch digital instrument panel and a 10.25-inch inforatinment display with Apple CarPlay support.
Under the hood is a 1.5L turbo engine that uses GAC Motor’s in-house developed MegaWave technology. The company claims that it can do 0 – 100km/h in 6.95 seconds. Paired with a 7-speed Wet-type Dual Clutch transmission, the engine can output 168hp and 270Nm of torque.
It is equipped with multiple safety and driving assist features. A total of six airbags come as standard along with a tire pressure monitoring system. Advanced driver assistance systems such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Traffic Jam Assist, and High Beam assist are present to ensure the safety of its passengers.
All-New GS8
The new GS8 is a full-size seven-seater SUV that has been upgraded for premium buyers. It is acting as their flagship SUV that combines form and function as well as smart configurations.
Its look is tailored for executives. It comes with a signature four-bulb metric automatic LED headlights with a V-shaped chrome grille arranged in a symmetrical layout for an aggressive stance. The look is made complete with a 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels, double chrome exhaust pipes, and LED daytime running lights.
Inside are seats upholstered with leather and diamond stitching with power adjust controls and memory settings for the driver and front passenger. Its multifunctional steering wheel has paddle shifters and is leather-wrapped. You also get an electrochromic rear-view mirror, three-zone automatic air conditioning, one-touch power windows, a 14.6-inch HD touch screen with phone mirroring capabilities, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a wireless mobile charging pad, and four USB-A ports.
Power comes from a 2.0 Turbo GDI engine, which can provide up to 248hp and 400nm of torque. It is paired with a megastar chassis and a 3rd generation 8-speed automatic transmission for smooth and balanced power.
As for safety, the GS8 sports multiple airbags, ISOFIX child safety seat anchors, seatbelts with disengage alarm, an engine immobilizer with anti-theft alarm, tire pressure monitoring, and many more. Technologies built-in include Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Sign Recognition, Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Front and Rear Parking Sensor with HD Surround Vision Parking System, Parking Jam Assist, and three drive modes (ECO, Comfort, and Sport).

The GAC Motors EMPOW is being offered in three special introductory price points and colors:
- 5L GE DCT – PhP 1,283,000 – Matte Fighter Green
- 5L GB DCT – PhP 1,215,000 – Ivory White, Moonlight Gray, Elegant Black
- 5L GS DCT – PhP 1,135,000 – Ivory White, Moonlight Gray
Introductory prices for the EMPOW includes a PhP 90,000 discount on the GS and GB variants, and PhP 65,000 for the GE. These special prices are valid until March 31, 2023.
The all-new GS8 has an introductory price of PhP 2,298,000 and is available in Ink Seal Green, Crystal White, Moonlight Gray, and Elegant Black colorways. Its special offer has a special discount of PhP 100,000 until March 31, 2023.
GAC MOTOR dealerships are located in Alabang, Bacoor, Davao, Pampanga, Pasig and Tarlac. New showrooms are on track to be fully operational in BGC, Makati, Cainta, Quezon Avenue, Manila Bay, E. Rodriguez Sr., Batangas, Lipa City, and Cagayan de Oro by mid-year, bringing the brand closer to its target of 20 dealer appointments by year end.
