Backed by their years of research in GPS, Garmin is introducing the latest generation of the Fenix smartwatches: the Fenix 6 series. With tons of new software and hardware improvements, the Fenix 6 series will sport longer battery life, better screen, and a whole suite of sports-oriented features.
The new Garmin Fenix 6 series will come with Power Manager to allow for longer battery life. Power Manager will also allow the user to see and control various settings and sensors that may impact battery life. These can then be manually or automatically adjusted to extend battery life on the fly.
A big addition to the Fenix 6 series is the Body Battery. This new features allows the smartwatch’s user to manage their workout schedules, rest times, and sleep. The Fenix 6 series will also come with PacePro that will allow runners to compensate for elevation paces.
The Garmin Fenix 6 series will come in several variants starting with Pro and Sapphire. The Fenix 6 and Fenix 6X multisport GPS watches have been constructed with a trimmer, more comfortable fit on the wrist. The brand has also increased the screen size to 1.3-inch and 1.4-inch, respectively.
Garmin is also introducing their new QuickFit nylon bands and silicone colors. Sapphire Editions of the Fenix 6 series add quality and durability of a scratch-resistant sapphire lens and other premium materials.
Like the Fenix 6X, the Fenix 6X Pro Solar sports a 1.4-inch display. It is the first Garmin GPS watch to include a solar charging function within the Power Function feature. A transparent solar charging lens called Power Glass uses solar energy to extend the watch’s battery life.
The extended battery life will allow its users to enjoy more activities and training features. Garmin says that the Fenix 6X Pro Solar has an expected power on time of 21 days plus an additional three days when using its solar charging capabilities.
Out of the box, the Fenix 6 series come with music streaming as well as topographic maps for up to 2,000 ski resorts nationwide, and 41,000 golf courses. This means that no smartphone connection is required in order for the smartwatch to work.
