GCash Scan to Pay is now available for use in South Korea to make payment for goods and services of Filipino travelers more seamless. This enables a cashless experience free of the hassle of exchanging money and paying foreign exchange fees.
Several retail partners have already starting accepting GCash Scan to Pay in South Korea. These include:
- Lotte Duty Free – Boasting the most brands and goods in the country, Lotte Duty Free focuses on the best brands in South Korea at attractive prices. Their stores are found in several locations and lookout for exclusive items found only on their shelves including collabs with popular idol groups.
- Shinsegae Duty Free – One of the biggest names in retail in South Korea, they opened their first department store back in 1930. You can find luxury goods or affordable finds from electronics to character goods. There’s even an art space inside.
- LINE Friends Flagship Store – Looking for cute knick-knacks? LINE FRIENDS might have something from you. The global character brand can trace their popularity from Japan. Their mainstays are characters called Brown & Friends but also carry BT21 and BTS finds.
- Hai Di Lao – One of the largest hotpot chains from China, Hai Di Lao is now found across the globe including South Korea. Don’t miss out on its world-famous street food and convenience store treats.
- Starbucks, Hongdae Neighborhood – Starbucks in Seoul can rival quaint cafes found locally. Make sure to check out exclusive merch and their seasonal drinks found only in South Korea.
Pay with GCash
GCash is now available in more than 1 million Alipay+ merchants across Asia and in key countries including Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, and Qatar.
Simply look for the Alipay+ sign and you can pay with GCash. After logging in to your GCash app, select QR or PayQR button at the bottom of the screen, scan the merchant’s QR code or tap Pay Abroad with Alipay+ to have the merchant scan your generated QR. Check the amount and click pay to see the receipt.
