You get a 100 XP reward for finding a hidden Tanuki. Although not high enough, it is still something for the trouble.
Each Tanuki that you find grants you an Emote that you can use in Camera Mode. Find them all so that you can get more poses as you take pictures of Ghostwire: Tokyo’s world!
Once you find all of the Tanuki, you will be prompted to go to Kirigaoka Shrine to collect your reward. Fast Travel to that location and talk to the Boss Tanuki to finish the quest.
Charms are items that grant you passive effects. There is no need to equip them and simply having them allows you to enjoy their effects. Finding Tanuki rewards you with Charms that grant these passive bonuses. The more Tanuki that you find, the better the charms that you get.
As a reward for finding all of the Tanuki, you get the Tanuki Outfit. While it does not add any particular benefits that affect gameplay, seeing the outfit during cutscenes is more than enough to justify getting it. Best wear this one before you face the final boss.
Finding all of the hidden Tanuki counts as a sidequest. If you want to complete all of the sidequests in the game, make sure to do this one!
In order to start hunting Tanuki, you must first complete the sidequest “Tanuki Hunt”. This sidequest is unlocked during Chapter 2: A Maze of Death.
