Globe measured a massive 27x increase in monthly data traffic on its 5G network in 2021, growing by as much as 35.2% month-on-month with National Capital Region, Cebu, and Davao del Sur getting the highest data traffic nationwide. For the whole year of 2021, Globe has served 6.71 petabytes of data in its 5G network.
The massive growth in data traffic can be attributed the improvement of Globe’s 5G network rollout in areas where it is needed. They have also come out with 5G-specific data offers and budget-friendly 5G devices, making it easier for customers to access the service.
As of the end of December 2021, Globe logged more than 1.62 million devices on its 5G network as it reaches 96% in NCR and 84% in key cities in Visayas and Mindanao in terms of 5G coverage.

5G offers low latency, greater bandwidth, superior reliability, and the ability to connect more devices. It can deliver up to 7x faster speeds compared to 4G. Globe has fired up more than 2,000 5G cell sites and upgraded 12,900 cell towers nationwide to provide better services to Filipinos. In terms of 5G coverage, the telco has more than 1,400 cell sites in Luzon, 300 in Visayas, and 230 in Mindanao with more to come.
