Globe is already aggressively rolling out their 5G network with their 5G at Home as well as the first post-paid plans for the Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G. In testing their 5G network, Globe has completed their first 5G video call with mobile operator AIS Thailand.

Globe’s first 5G call with the said telecommunications company lasted more than three minutes. The technical call from AIS Thailand was made possible due to their testing of their own 5G network in Bangkok last Friday, February 21, 2020.

Globe Director for Technology Enablement and Services Planning Alan Garchitorena and President Hui Weng Cheong participated in the call. The call went on without glitches or lag. “It went very smoothly.  Superb.  My appreciation for the support from the Globe Team,” said Hui.

Mr. Garchitorena said that this is solid proof of Globe’s readiness to roll out mobile 5G in the country. “This technology will deliver a new era of digital use for AR, VR, Internet of Things (IoT), industrial applications, and much more in the Philippines,” he added.

Globe is currently targeting to activate 5G sites in key locations such as central business districts within the year.
