Globe Telecom released a statement that it will be complying with the government directive to provide access to number 911 and 8888 as government emergency and complaint hotline. These services will serve for voice services only beginning August 1.

Formerly, 8888 has been a Globe’s customer hotline; but with the new directive from the Government – Globe was given a 30-45 day transition their service.

Unfortunately, Globe Telecom will be charging Php5 per call on top of regular voice charges for their subscribers calling the 911 hotline. A particularly harsh measure to prevent prank calls.
