You might have been hearing all about the rumors for a while, but now it’s finally official: Google has launched YouTube Kids.
For the past few months, the company said that they have been working with a number of parents to create a more family-friendly and filtered version of YouTube. The new app is designed to be user friendly for children by featuring a much more simpler and bigger interface.
You guessed it right, the selection of videos on the platform is only limited for what Google considers “appropriate for the whole family.” It has four channels and playlist categories (Shows, Music, Learning and Explore) for parents and children to browse with.
As always, you can search for content to find what you’re looking for, but it adds a voice search support just in case the kids can’t spell or type. There are DIY arts and crafts, learn how to find the circumference of a circle, or watch favorites from Mother Goose Club to Minecraft, as well as new series from National Geographic Kids and Reading Rainbow.
Google stated that the app was designed to be easier for kids to use. For parents, they have built features that let them decide how their family uses the app, this includes the ability to set viewing limits with a timer.
