Google Pixel 9a launches with Tensor G4 and 7 years of support

Google Pixel 9a 2

Google has officially debuted the Pixel 9a, which is now positioned as the most affordable of the Pixel 9 series.

The Pixel 9a sports the same minimalist aesthetics of other Pixel devices. The chassis itself is made out of flat aluminum frame and a polycarbonate back panel.

Its display is a 6.3-inch 2424 x 1080 120Hz pOLED display that runs at 120Hz and is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Its punch-hole at the top houses a 13MP f/2.2 selfie camera. Google says that the device has a peak brightness of up to 2700nits and comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner.

At the back is a fairly simple dual camera setup including a 48MP f/1.7 main camera and a 13MP f/2.2 ultrawide shooter complemented by an LED flash. Its main shooter comes with Dual Pixel AF, OIS, and can shoot up to 4K60fps video.

It is the first Pixel A series to come with a Macro Focus option for up close shots as well as Google’s Astrophotography that helps you improve night sky photography automatically.

Under the hood is a Tensor G4 chip with a Titan M2 security coprocessor. Its chipset is complemented by 8GB RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage.

The device runs on a 5,100mAh battery with 23W Fast Charging and Qi wireless charging. It will come with Android 15 by default and will be supported for 7 years for OS support and security patches.

The Google Pixel 9a starts at USD 499 or around PhP 29,000 when directly converted. It will come in Obsidian, Porcelain, Iris, and Peony colorways. Availability will start on April 2025, but we have low hopes of the device officially coming in the Philippines.
