Grab GTA 5 For Free On Epic Games Store

-

Update: You can finally get GTA V for free in the Epic Games Store. Go fast as this free game will only be up for grabs until May 21 11AM ET. Once you get it, it’ll forever stay in your account (unless it gets banned or we get vaporized by some space laser).

Epic Games Store, a digital storefront home to hot titles such as Fortnite, is regularly offering players free games to add to their digital library. While some of this games are must-haves, I reckon this one’s the best now: they’re going to offer Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) as the next free game.

The announcement was mistakenly posted hours before the reveal and has already been deleted. But user Wario64 was able to save it in its full glory:

Epic Games Store (EGS) is a direct competitor to Valve’s heavily entrenched Steam Store. In order to get more people to use their front, they devised several strategies such as locking in exclusives and offering free games to users. While offering free games looks counter-intuitive from a business standpoint, it helps grow exposure and keeps your product in the minds and sights of many.

Although already out for almost 7 years (yep, GTA 5 launched in the year 2013), the game still has a huge following thanks to its online segment, GTA Online. With this going out for free for anyone with an Epic Games account, expect the online population to balloon in the coming days.

We will update this article once we get more info. You can visit the offical Epic Games Store Twitter account here. You also need to download the Epic Games Launcher to get GTA 5 for free here. Note that you also need to register an account in order to get the game.

Never thought those 2 words would combine into one, “GTA 5” & “Free”.
