HMD expands its smartphone line with the HMD Fusion. While it does look kind of different, its design has been made around what they call Fusion outfits – cases that expand its functionalities
The HMD Fusion’s design has been made to take into account its modularity. First-part Fusion outfits will include cases that will add wireless charging, additional durability, or expanded LED lighting capabilities. If you’re savvy enough, HDM is also allowing you to 3D print your own designs via its open-source HMD Fusion Development Toolkit.
The rear also comes with exposed screws that enables easier access to its battery, screen, and other components for repair. This means that you or somebody savvy enough will be able to fix a cracked screen with relative ease so long as you have access to spare components. Despite this open design, HMD manages to certify the chassis for IP54 dust and water resistance.
As for the actual smartphone components, the Fusion will sport a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chip with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, a 6.56-inch 1612 x 720 90Hz display, and a 5,000mAh battery with 33W Fast Charging.
Imaging includes a 108MP main camera with a 2MP depth sensor and a 50MP front-facing lens. It will run on Android 14 and HMD is promising 2 years of OS upgrades and 3 years of security patches.
The HMD Fusion starts at EUR 249 debuting first in Europe and the US soon after.
When directly converted, the device is positioned at around PhP 15,500. No word if the Fusion will arrive in the Philippines.
