In Hogwarts Legacy, players can learn the unforgivable curse, Avada Kedavra. In order to learn this spell however, you need to finish a couple of quests and fulfill certain conditions. Get to know how to get Avada Kedavra, quests that you need to finish, and more using this guide.
Sebastian Sallow, a Slytherin that you befriend earlier in the game, is the one who will teach you Avada Kedavra. In order for him to teach you, you must follow his questline and try to find a cure for his sister Anne. Sebastian finally teaches you the spell in the quest “In the Shadow of the Relic”. When given the opportunity to learn it, accept the offer and complete the mini game to finally have the spell in your arsenal.
As mentioned above, the quest to unlock the Avada Kedavra is directly related to Sebastian Sallow’s quests. For the quest to get the spell, finish the character side quest, “In The Shadow Of Hope”.
Aide from the side quest above, you also need to clear a main quest to unlock Avada Kedavra. However, this quest appears near the end of Hogwarts Legacy’s story. At the earliest, you can get the spell after you finish the main story quest “In The Shadow Of The Mountain”.
Likely the ultimate spell in the game, Avada Kedavra is a one-hit kill spell that is capable of downing even the hardiest of enemies. It’s banned in the lore for a reason and its effects are pretty apparent even in the game. Just target this at any enemy, shielded or not, and watch your target fall.
Avada Kedavra works with almost all bosses and high-level enemies. It also works on hardy beasts such as trolls. If you want to hunt down named enemies easily, best get this spell when you can. Unfortunately, some enemies, such as the final boss, are impervious to the effects of Avada Kedavra.
To balance things, Avada Kedavra has a long cooldown time. It is not affected by any talent that lowers cooldown. Cooldown time is 1 minute and 10 seconds.
Apparently, the world of Hogwarts Legacy is not too hard on Unforgivable Curses provided that you are the one using them. Using curses like Avada Kedavra has no effect on your play as the game does not have any morality system present. You can even use these spells in front of your professors and friends (just don’t mind their disgust!)
Avada Kedavra has only one upgrade talent and it makes it more potent. The talent allows the spell to splash to other cursed enemies in the field. Combine this with other spells that inflict spells and you’ll be seeing groups of enemies getting cursed in a short span of time. This makes the long cooldown of the spell seem negligible as you can down multiple enemies in one shot.
