In Hogwarts Legacy, players get to encounter a Hippogriff, a horse-eagle hybrid creature. Get to know where to find the Hippogriff and its location, how to use it, quest needed, and more using this guide.
For other magical beasts, check out the Magical Beast List.
The Hippogriff can only be acquired by taking on the main story quest “The High Keep”. In this quest, the player must work with Natty to get information about Rockwood and Harlowe. During the fight, the player then must rescue a shackled Highwing. As this mission is essential to the plot, it is unmissable. Clearing the mission immediately rewards you with two Hippogriffs, Highwing and Caligo (if you pre-ordered the game).
The Hippogriff can be found at different locations on the map. It’s neither as rare as a Graphorn nor a unique single beast like the Phoenix. These wild Hippogriffs cannot be mounted and can only be captured for their resource and for breeding.
You can use up to two Hippogriffs in the game as flying mounts for both ground and air exploration. It is the first magical beast mount that you encounter in the game. Aside from the Hippogriff, you can also mount beasts like the Thestral and the Graphorn.
Although you do look majestic on a Hippogriff, the maneuverability and the speed of an upgraded Broom is better. There’s apparently no in-game advantage in using a Hippogriff. As it stands, it’s way easier to go around with a Broom than with a Hippogriff.
The Hippogriff can be captured and bred for Hippogriff Feathers. You can use the material to upgrade equipment using the Enchanted Loom.
The Hippogriff is a majestic beast with the front half of an eagle and the back half of a horse. The Hippogriff can soar great distances and commands the respect of anyone who dares to approach it.
Hogwarts Legacy is available on PC, PS5 & PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch. Get to know more about the game via the official website.
