Looks like Intel feels the competition now with AMD, Tweaktown just reported that Intel dropped prices of their processors across all their SKUs in reaction to AMD’s upcoming Ryzen processors.
Latest processors like the Intel Core i7-6950X drops as much as $300 (Php15,300) while lower SKU Core i7 is around $100. Even Pentium processors were cut to around $30 (Php1,500), giving more advantage to consumers with better options.
This narrows down AMD Ryzen’s competitive edge against Intel where they promote same/better performance againt the like of the 6900K with a $400 price difference. Now it will be just $200 difference and looks like Intel is feeling the heat to innovate.
Definitely, good news for us here in the Philippines and we look forward to the upcoming global trend of cheaper CPUs for desktops, we think it will take more time for laptops since Intel still monopolizes that category.
