Just a few days after the official launch of the Huawei P40 series, Honor is unveiling a brand new smartphone under their belt: the Honor 30S. Though not as technically impressive as the P40 series, the Honor 30S still packs a punch with its brand new chipset, quad cameras, and 5G capabilities
The Honor 30S ships out with a 6.5-inch LTPS IPS 2400 x 1080 display with Aluminosilicate Glass for added protection as well as support for HDR10. The brand has also moved on from the notch and is now using a punch-hole instead to house the smartphone’s 16MP f/2.0 front-facing camera.
The back is populated by a rather sizeable camera bump for the device’s quad cameras. A 64MP f/1.8 main camera leads the charge assisted by an 8MP f/2.4 telephoto with 3x zoom, an 8MP f/2.4 ultrawide, and a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor. In lieu of a rear-mounted or an in-display fingerprint scanner, the Honor 30S uses a side-mounted fingerprint scanning method.
The smartphone’s processing power comes from the Kirin 820 5G with 8GB of RAM. Previous information points to the chip exceeding the Kirin 980 as well as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 in some areas. As the moniker of the chipset suggests, the smartphone will also support the much faster 5G band.
128GB or 256GB storage variants will be available although you can expand the smartphone’s storage via the shared SIM slot using a Nano Memory card. The Honor 30S will come with Android 10 with Magic UI 3.1 without any Google Mobile Services. Instead, the device shall have HMS as well as AppGallery.
In terms of battery life, the device is going to be powered by a 4,000mAh battery inside. Charging is done via a USB Type-C port at the bottom that supports 40W Fast Charging that promises 70% of charge in around 30 minutes.
